God keeps His promise, and in such a wonderful way. When things seem lost, God pulls through. The disciples were promised the Holy Spirit and in Pentecost the Spirit descended in such a powerful way filling the entire house with His presence and enabled all who were present to speak in tongues, and for those who were watching and hearing to understand them. God delivers. God starts the Church in the mission of proclaiming the salvation with a strong driving wind that is the Holy Spirit to impel, to give force, to set in the right way the disciples. God continues to do so again to His Church, ever sustaining it in her mission with His very presence of the Holy Spirit. Personally, let us continue to ask for His Holy Spirit to enable us to proclaim the Good News to others. Remember it is not about the person and the many good qualities that a person can have, but it is about the action of the Holy Spirit. During one homily it was stated that the sounds heard at Church today are grunts, and snorts and people coughing and sighing and certainly those are not from the Holy Spirit. Let us ask for inspiration, and concentration on the mission. Let us ask to be moved to action, not just become idle, making noises of discomfort. Let us ask to start using our voices guided by the Holy Spirit so all can understand the message of love in whatever language is proclaimed. Let us begin to speak because “We have a voice” that can be inspired by the Holy Spirit. Let our whole heart be filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit and express it to others. All have received the Holy Spirit in baptism. The Holy Spirit lives in the baptized person. But every one of us can receive the strength of the Holy Spirit when invoked with faith and when received in the sacraments. Let us call upon Him to begin to speak. Let the Holy Spriit enable us to proclaim the wonders of the Risen Christ. Let the Holy Spirit guide us to go where Jesus sends us to give peace to others. Let us also ask the Holy Spirit to come again to our lives to make our deserts, rivers of living water that flow to others the love of God. The Holy Spirit also takes us out of depression and fills us with his peace so then we can go out into the world and share that peace with others. Let us ask for the peace of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost reminds the Holy Spirit is always there to take us out from inaction and depression to open our mouths with His inspiration so to bring peace to others.
