The fourth Sunday of Easter is commonly called Good Shepherd Sunday, because the gospel is always selected from one of the passages where Jesus refers to himself as the Good Shepherd. Most of us have grown up with this image of Jesus, and we take it for granted. However , it is important to remember that Jesus enlists the help of others to guide us an our way (Happy Mothers’ Day). Most likely, there are many people who have helped us to follow Jesus. Although Jesus is truly The Good Shepherd, hopefully we pause today to say a prayer of thanksgiving for all who have helped us on our spiritual journey, and that we may be good examples for those he asks us to guide!
