Metro provides assistance to elderly, disabled and financially limited individuals through a variety of human service programs, to promote self-sufficiency and to protect dignity, safety and independence. Below are a variety of resources they provide within our area:
ECHO: Elderly Contact & Help Organization gives daily telephone reassurance to senior citizens, handicapped or the homebound to check on their "well-being" and to keep in touch with the world.
In-Home Services: Assist with light housekeeping, run errands, personal care or give the caregiver time to run errands or take a break themselves.
Representative Payee Program: Assists clients who are unable to manage their money by paying their bills with the client's funds.
Senior Medicare Patrol: Helps Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries avoid, detect and prevent health care fraud, errors and abuse. Protect Yourself & Medicare.
Transportation: Available to persons 60+ and/or disabled (residing in Canyon County, Homedale or Marsing) Monday - Friday from 8a-4p to employment, social or recreational activities, medical and beauty appointments and
even to daily Mass on Tuesday and Thursday. They do not operate on Saturday or Sunday.
Metro Contractor Services: All-electric homes may be eligible to receive energy-saving improvements through Idaho Power's Weatherization Solutions at no cost to the homeowner or renter. Those living in Adams, Boise, Canyon, Gem, Idaho, Payette, Valley and Washington Counties need to call Metro Contractor Services to inquire about the program.
Weatherization: Low-income seniors, low-income disabled or low-income families who own or rent their homes could be eligible for energy audit to assess furnace, water heater, windows/doors, carbon monoxide levels, etc.
Adopt-A-Senior Program: This programs enables individuals, groups or businesses to provide groceries to a low-income senior each month.
