*What is a Rorate Mass? "A Rorate Mass is a traditional Advent Mass dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, named after the Latin Introit "Rorate Coeli" ("Drop down, O heavens"). It is celebrated before sunrise, in a church lit only by candles, symbolizing the darkness of the world before the coming of Christ, who is seen as the Light of the World.
